NEW DELHI: In a major embarrassment for organisers of the Commonwealth Games, an under-construction foot overbridge today collapsed outside the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, the main venue of the Commonwealth Games, injuring 23 labourers.

Five of the injured are seriously injured in the incident that occurred at 3.10pm in Lodhi Road area of South Delhi, police said.

The 95-metre long bridge was being built along with another overbridge at the cost of Rs 10.5 crore by Chandigarh-based company PNR Infra, Delhi government sources said.

Public Works Department of Delhi government, which had given the contract to PNR Infra for constructing the overbridge as ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The bridge, whose construction was to be completed soon, was to connect the parking lot of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium where the opening and closing functions of Commonwealth Games would be held.

Fire department officials said the labourers were putting concrete mix at a portion of the bridge when the incident took place.

PWD chief Engineer Rakesh Mishra admitted that the incident was a "setback" but expressed confidence that the project would be completed before the Games that start on October 3.

Yesterday, two police personnel, including an officer, had suffered injuries when a canopy erected at the stadium fell on them.

Sonia supports INTUC on Sep 7 general strike Congress president Sonia Gandhi has backed the party-affiliated Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) in joining the other trade unions' call for a nation-wide shutdown Sep 7 against the 'anti-worker' policies of the central and state governments, a party leader said Sunday. 'When the senior party leaders appraised her at an informal meeting recently about INTUC's decision to join the general strike, Gandhi told them that 'INTUC is meant for that' and directed senior party leader Oscar Fernandes to co-ordinate with the union government, party and INTUC to settle the workers' demands,' the leader, who did not want to be identified, told IANS. The leader said Gandhi said she will herself take up the workers' issues with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. 'I will talk to the prime minister (about the workers's demands). INTUC must take up workers' issues,' Gandhi told the meeting. Sources in the INTUC told IANS said both Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Fernandes spoke to INTUC president G. Sanjeeva Reddy about the workers' demands after Gandhi's directives. Protesting against price rise, violation of labour laws and disinvestment of public sector units (PSUs), eight major trade unions, including INTUC and the trade unions affiliated to the Left parties, have called for a country-wide general strike Sep 7. The trade unions are also demanding rehabilitation of the workers and employees who lost their jobs due to the economic recession and for Rs.50,000 crore for an unorganised workers' social security fund. The government has only allocated Rs.1,000 crore for 40 crore unorganised workers in the country. The other trade unions which have called the strike include Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-affiliated Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS). The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, which is close to the Bharatiya Janata Party has not yet revealed its position. INTUC national secretary R. Chandrasekharan told IANS that it was the first time in the history of independent India that INTUC had joined the trade unions affiliated to other political parties to call for an all India strike. Dismissing the allegations by certain sections in the Congress party that it was a strike against the policies of the Manmohan Singh government, Chandrasekharan stressed the strike has been called for against anti-worker policies of both the centre and state governments. So, the INTUC top brass acknowledge that the Central Govt.'s policies are Anti Worker.

How Congress boot lickers organise blood donation camps on Rajiv Gandhi's birthday

A Congress MLA in Rajasthan has landed himself in trouble for bringing 20 minors to donate blood at a camp in Chomu town, 35 km from here, on August 20.

A court in Chomu has ordered the police to register a first information report against local MLA Bhagwan Saini, doctors and technicians for letting the children below 18 donate blood at a camp organised on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary that day.

Children below 18 are not permitted to donate blood but the MLA allegedly forged documents to show that the children were not minors.

Among those accused is the principal of the school where the blood donation camp was held.

Ajay Kumar Jain, petitioner’s counsel, said, “We argued for imposition of charges under sections pertaining to committing forgery to prepare the documents for blood donation. The documents had wrong entries related to age of the minors.”

The charges against the MLA and others include committing cruelty on minor children by tricking them into donating blood, Jain said.

Jaipur District Collector Kuldeep Ranka said on Tuesday after receiving an inquiry report, “Of the 27 school children who donated blood at the camp, about 20 were minors.” He said this was established after checking the records at the schools where the children were studying.

Child rights activists expressed satisfaction over the court’s decision. Govind Beniwal of Rajasthan Labour Watch said, “The Child Welfare Committee of the district should now swing into action and see if the victims need counseling.”

However, it is not that the Anand Jon got punished without the Christian run govt. of Sonia Maino Gandhi making efforts to save him. Indian Consul in New York put in serious efforts to bail out Anand.

In case you find it difficult to believe that the UPA govt. run by highly educated MM Singh would take up case of a serial rapist with a 6 year molestation track record, please read this by Sanjana Jon, sister of Anand Jon where she claimes following.

"I had met Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Pranab Mukherjee and they had approached the then Ambassador to India but that was all. Will I need to be a Khan or a superstar to get justice?" Sanjana said.

Because of the Indian Embassy's support and the Indian govt. putting efforts, 30 cases were dropped against Anand Jon. The ministry duly took credit.

YES, The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs of the UPA government, funded by tax revenues from tax payers like you and me, defended a Child Rapist.

Indian support for beleaguered celebrity designer in US

NEW DELHI — India is petitioning for the release of Indian celebrity designer Anand Jon Abraham from Los Angeles prison, where he is booked for 36-counts of rape, molestation and sexual battery.

New Delhi has taken an exceptional move to come out in support of Jon despite the growing number of charges against Jon.

India’s reaction has come at a time when Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs and senior Congress leader Vayalar Ravi has indicated that Jon could be the ‘victim of racial discrimination’ in the US. If Ravi is to be believed then India is aiming to get Jon out of prison by using diplomatic channels, but so far without success.

It may not be easy to get the 33-year-old model out of prison, as India’s Ministry of External Affairs is cautious not to take up the issue with the US because it is purely an internal judicial matter. But Ravi has officially asked the Indian Ambassador in US, Ronen Sen, for Jon’s release.

Officials admitted on Tuesday that the minister has even written to Indian consul generals in New York and San Francisco to look into the case, and help Jon in any need. There are reports of Ravi also extending help to Jon’s family — mother Shashi Abraham and sister Sanjana Jon.

The minister has attempted to whip up support from the strong non-resident Indian community in the US seeking Jon’s release, though not many have come out to back Jon considering the seriousness of the ‘criminal charges’ against him that even includes a child abuse case.

Top officials in the Ministry of External Affairs here are tightlipped over remarks made by Ravi in support of Jon. Ravi has been quoted as saying: “I have told (Ronen) Sen to do all he can to help them (Jon’s family). I’m glad that consul general in San Francisco B.S. Prakash was very helpful.”

“He sent two officers to meet Jon in prison, and said they would give him all support from the Indian side. The Indian offices will also report to us about what is being done for him. After all, he holds an Indian passport and was doing very well in the US. I won’t be surprised if there was some competition (from Americans),” Ravi said.

The statement is significant considering that Ravi is handling overseas affairs portfolio in Dr Manmohan Singh-led government. His remarks that Jon is a victim of ‘minority discrimination and personal envy’ in the US could be seen as interfering with US’ judicial process, said foreign policy observers.

The charge-sheet against Jon speaks volume of his alleged involvement in various crimes, mostly sexual, against women. Ravi has expressed disbelief about the legitimacy of such charges. He said: “I have heard the case and details of the charge-sheet, and got a feeling that there was something odd.”

So what makes Ravi speak so assertively? Ravi is an old friend of Jon’s aunt Prabha Yesudas — wife of noted playback singer Yesudas. The singer is brother-in-law of Jon’s mother Shashi, who is said to have approached him to rescue Jon. Ravi did exactly the same by using his official chair to drum up support for Jon.

Senior officials from ministry for external affairs told this correspondent that it is too early to comment whether Jon is a victim. “The US legal system is quite fair in cases of minority discrimination, if any. The case is being observed, and if there is any evidence of racial discrimination, we will take it up with the US,” said officials.

Though Jon’s claim to fame has been to dress up model Paris Hilton and the likes from Los Angeles’ tinsel crowd, Ravi taking up the matter when Indo-US camaraderie has attained new heights has all possibility of going wrong. The US is unlikely drop charges against Jon merely on India’s pressure.

Consider the case of Indian dock workers in Missisippi treated like slaves, whose case was NOT taken up by the Christist Sonia Maino government. They eventually moved UN. They were mere Hindu / Sikhs. Why should Sonia bother.

The more things change - the more they remain same

Today's blog post is a mail that I sent to my various friends in 1999 - ten years ago. I was cleaning / closing my yahoo account and that's when I found it.

Every thing remains the same, actually has become worse for Hindus.

The context of the email is that there was alleged rape of nuns in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh. With in hours, the entire English Media - Star TV et al, print media etc. was buzzing with rape news. As is usual, RSS / Vishwa Hindu Parishad / Bajrang Dal / Hindu saints were accused. Kids studying in Christian schools were made to parade holding anti Rape slogans.

MP was then ruled by Digvijay Singh, family retainer of the Queen / Rajmaata Sonia Maino, the beef eating / cow killing Catholic.

The end was rather tame and actually anti climax. It was found that:

a) Nuns were habitual of sexual intercourse

b) All the accused were Congress men

c) 6 out of 12 accused were Christian

d) There was a land dispute relating to church property which was at core.

And then silence. No apologies to the nationalist organisations. Sickular media / politicians simply moved on. Slander goes with out being punished in India.

Dear Friends,

Over last few months, you must have read in the (predominantly) English media that churches are being attacked and priests being killed in various parts of India. Inadvertently, as is fashionable, the media is blaming R.S.S. and "various elements of the Sangh parivar". The media is being so irresponsible that they are blaming R.S.S., the only nationalist organisation in India today, without even ascertaining the facts. In the case of Jhabua rape case, few nun were raped. The entire media, (lead by STAR TV and BBC) pinned the blame on R.S.S. and "various elements of the Sangh parivar". There were protest marches organised by missionary and other "secular" organisations (ever wonder why all anti-Hindu activities are secular ?). The missionary run schools were closed for a day and tiny tots were made to carry anti-rape placards (interesting education !!). This incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh, a state ruled by Congress (I) which is the protector of all minorities, which is run by a Christian (Sonia Gandhi), and has maximum number of people-hugely disproportionate to the percentage of Christian population in India-in its decision making body (Vincent George, A.K.Antony, Ajit Jogi… a long list). However, when the culprits were caught, it was found that they were Christians. Amazingly, this news was blanked out by most media. Not a single newspaper apologised to the R.S.S. for the lies hurled at a reputed organisation.

However, there are double standards in practice. While a huge hue and cry is made when even a single "minority" preacher (engaged in illegal and forcible conver-sions) is killed, no tears are shed for the Hindus being killed by Christians/Muslims. Vanvaasi Kalyan Ashram (VKA) is a social organisation engaged in serving the tri-bals. However the difference is that unlike Christian missionaries, VKA is teaching the Indian ethos and values to the tribal children. Obviously missionaries, are not happy at the growth of this organisation. So what do they do ?? They simply kill the VKA activists. Last month five workers of VKA who were involved in teaching the tribals were abducted in Tripura by the Church supported Tripura National Volunteers. It is feared that they have been killed. But what is the reaction of the media? Except for some coverage by the vernacular media like Jaagran, Dainik Bhaskar etc., the news has been blanked. Apparently, the Times of India and similar newspapers do not think that life of a Hindu is important.

This might seem gross to us Hindus because we preach and practise non-violence. However both Christianity and Islam have grown through the sword. In Goa, until the Portugese were evicted in 1961, it was common for the Christian missionaries to burn Hindus alive. It is well known that the Spanish missionaries finished every person of the Inca civilisation who had refused to become Christian. All this is well recorded in history and not just by Hindu/Inca people but by missionaries them-selves. But please note the language adopted by, both The Times of India and its copy-cat competitor-The Hindustan Times. They say …"alleged" (quotation marks mine not of the newspaper) atrocities committed on Hindus during Inquisition when those atrocities-burning on a stake for example-are well recorded. The entire effort is to paint Hindus as the intolerant community.   

The Vatican has vowed to ensure that 50% of Asian population becomes Christian by 2005. Ever wondered why so much action is occurring in Orrisa ? The Church has vowed to win Orrisa for the Church by 2001, as reported by the magazine Sunday, an Anand Bazar publication. Should you be of a kind who went to missionary schools/colleges and are more prone to disbelieve facts, you may verify this from CBCI (the central board of churches of India). Fortunately for us, the nationalist forces are not dead (or we all would be wearing crosses by now).

What we can do?
To start with, we can become informed citizens.
It is our right to be informed and take informed decisions. Write to the newspapers and ask why they are writing "…alleged" atrocities when the atrocities are well re-corded.

Be aware.
The Congress-I, under its Christian leader, Sonia Gandhi, intends to bring a bill which will grant SC reservations to Harijans who converted to Christianity.
{Comment, that was circa 1999, in 2009, Congress has already got a Judge Ranganath Mishra to write a report recommending what it always intended to implement - reservation for Dalit Christians to open floodgates for Christianity in India.

The obvious objective is to ensure that the conversions increase manifold. Irrespective of which party you vote for, if you are a Hindu and want your children to remain Hindu, it is important to oppose this bill. Write to your Member of Parliament opposing this bill. If they get large enough letters, they are bound to oppose it too.

Act.
Boycott all institutions which are run by missionaries or support the missionaries-the Times of India group for example. I used to bank with the Times Bank, but I have switched to ICICI bank now. Remember there is a great power in boycott - if 1 lakh families decide to stop reading Times of India and stop banking with the Times Bank and stop using the Times Card, then Bennet and Coleman Company will be dead.  Start by changing your newspaper to a nationalist newspaper.

Did you know that on the day of the Mumbai train blasts, the Government gave Rs 150 crores for earthquake relief in Pakistan ?

Last year our Govt. has given Rs 3, 000 crores (600 Million Dollars) to Afghanistan ? This, when victims of terror in India have not yet got aid? What’s going on?

B) Is this Government really secular ?

1. When Madrasas are being shut down in Pakistan, the Indian Government is giving them CBSE status !!
   
   It is depriving Muslim children in getting secular education. A Madrasa educated person can get a job in any government office without going through the secular education system.
   
   Can India afford to have fundamentalists in government departments?
   
   Why cannot the government shut down Madrassas and let Muslim children study with the rest?
   
   
2. Our Government has given 25 lakh scholarships ONLY to minority students...
   
   What sin have the majority done not to deserve these?
   
   Why cannot poor students of all communities be given scholarships instead of only Muslim children?
   
   
3. Thanks to the Congress led Government, out of 36000 temples in Andhra Pradesh , 28000 have closed down in the last five years.
   
   Do you want the same trend to continue in other parts of the country?
   Do you want a Nagaland type of situation in the whole of India ?
   
   While government controls most of the Hindu temples, the minority community has had full freedom to organize their religious bodies.
   
   The minority communities now have the first right over resources. Is this not a blatant violation of fundamental rights of the majority community?
   
   
4. Why have the minorities in Nagaland, Mizoram & Kashmir not got the similar privileges like the minorities in other states?
   
   Why is the Govt following different rules for different religions?

C) Is this government really making friends or enemies for India ?

Thanks to a weak and vision less foreign policy, India has created enemies all around. By the Home Minister’s own admission: "India is surrounded by a circle of fire". Rajiv Gandhi's vision of a powerful "SAARC" is now defunct.

1. Today, India commands little respect from all its neighbors, despite being the largest democracy in the world.
2. Terrorism has engulfed the country from inside and outside. Of course Pakistan ,the motherland of international terrorism continues to be a big threat.
3. China has territorial ambitions on India.
   
4. Nepal , is now being headed by a Maoist government and is ideologically more aligned to China . While India helped to dismantle the dynastic rule in Nepal our own Government surreptitiously supports dynastic rule within its own party.
5. Myanmar is increasingly aligning with Chinese forces with huge Chinese investments in that region.
6. Indian Policies in Srilanka have made Tamil Nadu burn. Will Tamils ever forgive India for encouraging military assault rather than facilitating peaceful dialogue on their north and north east regions.
7. Bangladesh continues to repeatedly aid and abet terrorism.

D) Is this Government really pro-poor?

The number of people living below the poverty line has increased by a horrifying 20 per cent. India had some 270 million people below the poverty line in 2004-2005, when the present Government took office. That number has gone up by 55 million, or 20 per cent!

E) Does this Government really care about the nation?

The Pakistani flag is now being hoisted in five districts of states like Assam where the Muslim population has gone up significantly. 92000 Hindu and 6000 Christians are now languishing in refugee camps. The government has turned a blind eye to this.

In the name of security, innocent people have been put in jails, whereas people like Yaasin Malik who has 23 murder charges on him, are moving Scot free and gathering their own strength. Is it acceptable to any patriotic Indian?

Can the Congress led UPA promise a non-muslim CM in J&K ? Reservation for a Hindu student in Nagaland ? If so, we wholeheartedly support them. Otherwise they should sit at home the next few years and rethink their policies.

Can our politicians stop stooping down to any lengths just for money and power ? Like Mr.Sharad Pawar, who first ditched the Congress and then ditched the people and aligned back with the Congress, just to be in power.

Don’t be deceived. What appears to be communal is not communal, and what appears to be secular is not secular. It is time we change our thinking.

But for now we need a change.
The same party brought to power again and again means encouraging unabated corruption.

Or support the candidates who are good and fighting on their own.

Help those candidates who are good,clean and progressive not the criminals.

All these important things are deliberately hidden by the media after taking good money for their patriotism.
All the electronic media is either governed by any other foreign agency or so called "Secular Party".

They are indirectly making mindsets of people according to their own wish. In any way we are not in freedom. Thousands of people lost their lives so that we can vote and live in a society which is violence free ,terror free and fulfilling all their needs. Stand up for this most tolerant and ancient civilization and prevent this great nation from becoming a communal battleground. As citizens of India we must vote for change.

WAKE UP INDIANS. LET US VOTE FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATE TO HAVE A GOOD GOVERNANCE.

Our inaction is responsible for what is happening not the action taken by these people.
